Introduction
In the 21st century,The United States、Russia、China、Japan and other countries have declared major space missions to return human beings to the moon. Immediate plans to use the moon as the transfer station to explore Mars、Venus、and beyond. For this purpose, moving to the moon and building a base for the migrant to living is the first step for the people to explore, however, In the” luna” and the Apollo mission, Lunar dust is an environmental hazard for activities on the Moon, with effects that range from the potential toxicity to astronauts to the degradation of machinery (Gaier J. R. 2005; Taylor L. A. et al. 2005). It is found that the effects could be sorted into 8 categories: vision obscuration, false instrument readings, dust coating and contamination, loss of traction, clogging of mechanisms, abrasion, thermal control problems, seal failures, on the one hand, many of the astronauts experienced problems during the whole processing, they lodge themselves into the lungs, clogging pores and perhaps penetrate directly into the blood stream. They may be abrasive and damaging to tissue in the lungs, eyes, throat, etc. Astronauts will produce allergy symptoms :weep、cough 、 sore throat pain ,and so on, therefore, it was astronaut Gene Cernan said: “I think dust is probably one of our greatest inhibitors to a nominal operation on the Moon. I think we can overcome other physiological or physical or mechanical problems except dust. “lunar dust is such a problem that NASA has selected the dust mitigation strategy as one of its top two problems that need to be solved before returning to the moon.
Before returning to the moon, human have to research the biological toxicity, adhesion and corrosivity of lunar dust by countless of test, lunar dust is necessary for the test, however, the moon sample is extremely precious, the quantity of lunar dust is far from meeting the need of the test. The moon resource research、Lunar surface environment simulation also need lunar dust. so people need to develop lunar dust simulant. Lunar dust is the <20 μm fraction of lunar regolith and consists of ~20 wt% of the bulk ‘soil’. the agglutinitic glasses make a great part of the lunar dust.With decreasing grain size, The abundances of the agglutinitic glasses always increase. The others component like pyroxene 、plag、olivine、ilmenite don’t display this regular pattern. the texture and shape characteristics of the particle is complexity,Glass beads、vesicular texture、angular shards、Blocky Fragments、 Aggregated Particles are the major shape of the particles, most lunar dust grains have jagged edges. the unique environment make lunar dust have various of characterizations compare to lunar soil, those characterizations are closely related to the biological toxicity, adhesion and corrosivity of lunar dust.. we develop lunar dust stimulant by broken glasses sample which is screened from CAS-1 lunar soil stimulant. Lunar dust stimulant very closely to lunar dust on the chemistry、PHYSICAL PROPERTIES,those characters will be discuss in this paper.
